Postcard Films was started in Los Angeles in 2008 by Jedrzej and Mariessa Jonasz.

In addition to hosting the travel series "Getting Around", Mariessa is also a classically trained actress and voice over artist. Her career started in New York City, where she was cast in several productions. She has performed on stages across the US, as well as film, television, and commercials, and can be seen in the television show "I Didn't know I Was Pregnant," airing on Discovery Health. She played Jenny in the short film "Knocked Down," which has recently been shown in numerous film festivals. Mariessa has also narrated the audiobook "My Strange and Terrible Malady", and voices children's books, as well as educational materials.

Jedrzej Jonasz - Director

Polish born director and producer Jedrzej studied film at Queen’s University and, upon graduation, began a successful career in Toronto’s and now LA’s film industries.  His most significant projects include directing the documentaries “Against The Odds” and “Monte Cassino”, feature film “Low Budget” and the TV series “Amazing Toronto Adventure”. Jedrzej has also worked as a cinematographer and producer on the show “Why Is It Sexy” (Discovery, Canal D), an editor on “Stupidity” (CBC, Documentary Channel) and on the feature film “The Long Weekend”. This varied experience has contributed to a solid understanding of all aspects of production, giving Jedrzej the ability to efficiently see a production through every step of the process.

Project history

Our first project was the "Getting Around" web travel series for TripFilms.com. We started with 2 Los Angeles videos, one about the LA Transit system, and one about some our favorite hotels in the LA area. 

Continuing on with the show, we shot a road trip travel diary of a trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco. This was a 6 episode travel diary, and was the featured video on Tripfilms.com.
