BMW Museum

After the 650 pickup, we took a walk over to the BMW Museum across the street. It was just redone at the end of June and is not only a great exhibit of cars and BMW history, but is also one of the most futuristic and hi-tech museums we've ever been to. From touch screens to video and light presentations, the museum caters not only to the automotive fan, but anyone who appreciates art and technology. Highly recommened on our list of things to do in Munich.

Delivery at the BMW Welt
2008-07-05 00:40
We are at the BMW Welt and have just picked up the 650i that we'll be using for the trip. This is an amazing machine, it is one of BMW's Individual cars where you can customize and upgrade many of the interior and exterior design elements of the car. For instance, the color of this 650 is Azurite Black, but unlike the standard black paint, this particular one has a blue hue that only becomes visible under strong sunlight. Stunning! The delivery process itself is akin to being at the oscars, from the moment you arrive you are treated like a star. Every detail has been looked after so that you feel as comfortable as possible, this is truly the ONLY way to buy a new car. Stay tuned for our video of the pickup and first drive through Munich.

Arrived in Munich
2008-07-03 07:38
After an 11 hour flight, we finally arrived in Munich. We are booked into the Hotel Angelo, and being the Urban Explorers that we are, we decided to take public transit to get to the hotel instead of a costly 80 EUR taxi. The subway and trains are great here, but figuring out their ticket system is somewhat like trying to lower the landing great of a 747 with no flight training. They really need to simplify it a bit, these Zone systems are just hell for visitors.
Well, we pick up our car from BMW on Friday, I can't wait!

Test drive of 650i
2008-06-26 00:45
Today we went to Santa Monica BMW to find out more about the European Delivery program and shoot the first episode of "Getting Around: Roadtrip Europe". This is usually the first step in doing a European Delivery, find a dealership that you like and take a test drive of the model you are looking to get. BMW will be loaning us a 650i for the series, so that is the car we tested out. The heads-up display was really fun, it's just one of those features that brings regular automotive technology to the next level. I can't wait for the day when all cars use a HUD to display important information on the windshield. But until that day, if you can get your hands on a beemer with HUD the future is now.
